The visa/residence permit is intended to allow entry into Portuguese territory, for candidates who wish to reside and remain in Portugal for more than 1 year.
With the exception of the GV process, the normal visa/residence permit process has two stages: the visa application at the consulate in the country of residence and the residence permit application, already in Portugal, with our office providing advice throughout the procedure.
With the residence permit, foreign citizens can benefit from:
The best known is the Golden Visa, which is one of the main gateways to Europe, allowing foreign citizens to enjoy the rights derived from residency with an obligation to stay for just 7 days a year.
The changes that the Government intends to introduce, and which exclude the direct acquisition of real estate, will still allow Golden visa applications based on investment in job creation, scientific research, cultural investments and venture capital funds.
Despite the announced changes to the Residence Permit for Investment Activity (ARI) program, commonly called Golden Visa, holders of Residence Permit for Investment under the previous modalities, can still request renewals to complete the necessary residence time before applying for Portuguese nationality.
They can also apply for family reunification, for their spouse, ascendants (theirs or that of their spouse), minor children and even children over 18 who are dependent on the couple or one of the spouses, provided that they are studying in Portugal or abroad.
Our office has extensive experience in monitoring all stages of this procedure.
